He himself wrote about painting: ‘All the emotions are outlined in it. Before it, each person can, by using their imagination, conjure up a work of fiction and with just one glance, feel their spirit overwhelmed by profound recollections, without any effort on the part of their memory necessary, as everything is outlined in one only moment.’ The path he chose to follow was one of ornamental simplicity of the unconventional display of composition, the organisation with colour and a sense of balance as a base. Even though his occupation with drawing began as a simple hobby, it soon overran his life and he himself ended up becoming one of the greatest painters of Post-Impressionism and one of the most significant painters of all time. We are, of course, referring to Paul Gauguin, an important French painter. Indeed charming and undefeatable, the space that was dedicated to him represents him totally, as the particular shades of dark green give one the feeling of a ‘heavenly stroll’.
